Dr-Anthony-CarratoDr. Anthony Carrato

Dr. Anthony Carrato is a general/vascular surgeon who is board-certified in general surgery. He was born and raised in Hazleton and is a graduate of MMI Preparatory School in Freeland.

After graduating high school, he attended Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. During his undergraduate training, he was awarded honors and inducted into the Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society and the Sigma Xi Chemistry Honor Society. He continued his education in Philadelphia at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, where he was awarded his Doctorate in Medicine in 1991. His doctoral awards include the Letter of Distinction in Pathology and induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Hobart Amory Hare Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency at Jefferson University Hospital in 1996 as chief resident in the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Carrato holds board certification in general surgery from the American Board of Surgery. Since completing his training at Jefferson, he has further refined his surgical expertise in treating breast disease by becoming certified by the American College of Surgeons for stereotactic breast biopsies and by the University of Pennsylvania for sentinel lymph node biopsies for breast cancer and melanoma. He also has extensive post-graduate training in endovascular and minimally invasive vascular surgery, including treating lower extremity disease, aneurysms and carotid disease with advanced endovascular angioplasty and stenting.

Dr. Carrato has practiced in his hometown of Hazleton for the past 16 years. He holds membership in the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the Luzerne County Medical Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club International. He is active in the community, is a member of King’s College clinical faculty for the Physician Assistant Program and is a clinical preceptor in general surgery.

He resides in Hazleton with his wife and children.

Alycia-PavlickAlycia Pavlick, PA-C

Alycia Dorrine Pavlick is a board-certified physician assistant, with specialty board certification in surgery from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. She was born and raised in Dorrance and is a graduate of MMI Preparatory School in Freeland.

Immediately after graduating high school, she made a lifelong dream a reality, becoming a professional dancer and pursuing a career in dance in Pittsburgh by enrolling as a dance/arts major at Point Park University. She soon began auditioning and after being discovered in Pittsburgh, she moved to New York City, where she trained and worked with world-renowned tap choreographers Savion Glover and Michael Minery at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan. Their combined choreography has been seen from Broadway shows such as "Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk" to movies and national television specials.

In 2003, Pavlick moved back to Pennsylvania to begin her career in medicine. She attended King's College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in medical studies, magna cum laude, with a minor in medical business administration in 2006. In 2007, she was awarded her Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies. Throughout her training as a physician assistant, she specialized in general and plastic surgery. She was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants Award for Leadership and Excellence in the PA Profession in 2007, and was board certified immediately following graduation from King's in 2007. She recently boarded with a specialization in surgery from the NCCPA, an accomplishment only physician assistants who excel in the field of surgery can achieve.

Since earning her master's, Pavlick has worked in Hazleton with Dr. Anthony Carrato in general and vascular surgery, mastering techniques in minimally invasive and endovascular surgery. She has been a clinical faculty member of the King's College PA Program since 2009, and continues to precept and train PA students in the field of surgery.

She resides in Ashley with her husband and son.
